‘Saddest cat’ looks completely different a year after being adopted

A tomcat whose expression appeared permanently sad looks completely different a year after being adopted.

After years of living on the streets Bruce Willis, a seven-year-old orange tabby, had scars all over his body, chipped teeth, a healed injury to his eye and problems with his immune system.

Then he was taken to Animal Human Society in Minnesota, US, where he was adopted by cat-lover Sandra.

Since Bruce came home with her a year ago Sandra has documented his transformation from the saddest to the happiest cat on TikTok – and everyone has fallen in love.

Sandra first found out about Bruce from the shelter’s Facebook page, and was instantly smitten.

She visited him often and checked up on him via the shelter’s website, but after a month he still hadn’t been adopted and she knew it was a sign.

After convincing her landlord to sway his ‘no pets’ rule, his life changed forever.

The transformation melted hearts everywhere as Sandra received 6.6 million views on a montage video of her year with him.

She wrote: “A year ago, I met the saddest cat I had ever seen,

“My lease didn’t allow pets.

“But my landlord agreed to make an exception.”

In the heartwarming clip, Bruce can be seen cuddled up to her on his first night at home, getting belly rubs and venturing out into the snow with his army green harness on.

His fur, which was once rough and discoloured looks bright and his eyes are full of light.

She added: “It’s now been a year since I adopted him.

“And he’s the happiest cat I know.”

One person said: “I will die for this cat.”

Another added: “You literally can see the life come back in his eyes at the end!!!”

A third added: “Thank you for choosing him.”

And: “Ah here comes the water works” admitted a fourth.
